Viggo Birch is CEO of Novo Nordisk UK and Vice President Europe with responsibility for the operations in UK and Ireland (since late 2001). The Business Area includes one of the global clinical development centres. Is a member of the European Management Team (HQ in Zurich, CH).

Viggo Birch has been 23 years with Novo Nordisk of which 11 years in Spain as Managing Director & Vice President for Spain & Portugal. Viggo joined the company as Vice President in October 1987 with the responsibilities for major parts of Europe and Latin America and headed up the merger in all these markets until end 1990 when he moved to Spain as VP for Spain and Portugal.

Prior to Novo Nordisk, Viggo worked 11 years with Mobil Oil where he joined on a Graduate Training Programme and since held various sales, marketing and managerial positions. He joined the Management Board in Denmark in 1980 as one of the youngest executives in Europe. Latest position was Director, Strategic Planning Benelux and the Nordic Countries based in Rotterdam from 1984 to 1987 heading up various mergers and acquisitions as well as divestments.

When graduated from Copenhagen Business School, Viggo worked as a Management Consultant for F.L. Smith in their recent acquisition, Pedershaab Maskinfabrik in order to assess their Entrepreneur Division.

During the studies and also after graduation, Viggo served as personal advisor and consultant to Mr. Kristian Hougaard. Mr. Hougaard was exploring various business ventures and eventually created World Jet Trading - a global broker of business jet planes.

Viggo is a Goodwill Ambassador to the City of Copenhagen, Trustee and co-founder of the Spanish Diabetes Foundation and Board member of the joint venture between the Oxford University, NHS and Novo Nordisk (OCDEM), trustee of C3 - Collaborating for Health, board member of the Danish UK Chamber of Commerce. I have published 13 International 25 national papers respectively, I have translations and reviews on physiology & pharmacology in different books. Third Phase is Pharma experience. I have started as Scientific Project Manager (Medical Adviser) and worked also in marketing department. After I had the chance to work as a Medical Director and Cheef Scientific Officer in National and International level for more than seven years. I had the chance of working on strategical programs for Region Europe Medical Group and have taken a new challenge by diverting my expertise, experience and focus to Market Access Function starting from 2010. Nuri M. Colakoglu, born in Izmir in 1943, graduated from Robert College and took his BA in Diplomacy and International Relations from school of Political Sciences, Ankara. He has worked as a journalist & broadcaster and media executive since 1969. He has held positions in Turkey and abroad, including TRT Foreign News Department, German News Agency DPA, Sweden STV, German WDR Radio, Aydinlik Newspaper, BBC Turkish Section, Milliyet Newspaper London Bureau Chief and then News Editor and TRT General Manager Chief Advisor.

Since 1991 he has been involved in launching or restructuring a number of private TV channels - Show TV, Cine 5, Olay TV, NTV, CNBC-e, CNN Turk, Fenerbahce TV, Kanal D Romania, TEB KOBI TV, Grand Bazaar TV/Kapalıçarşı TV. Right now he is in the process of launching his 10th channel - HTV : Health Channel.

He returned to Dogan Media Group in 2002 as CEO & President of CNN Turk. Here, he served as the General Manager of CNN Turk, ANS International Production Company, CEO of Turkish Daily News, helped launch Kanal D Romania. He is currently the President of Dogan Media International and Advisor to the CEO of Dogan Media Group. He is also a Board Member of Kanal D Romania.

He owns two private companies: One publishes books (InterMedia International Communication Corporation) and the other gives corporate publicity services (NMC New Media Company Television and Advertisement Corporation).

Turgut Tokgöz was born in Ankara in 1967. He earned his BSc in Economics from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1989. Following his graduation from METU, he briefly worked for the Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade as an assistant supervisor.

In 1992, he completed his graduate study in international relations at The Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) followed by a graduate degree in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1993.

Between 1993 and 1996, he worked for TEB Research as economist and banking sector analyst. In the meantime, he held a part-time position as a lecturer in economics at Istanbul Bilgi University. In 1996 he joined Eczacibasi Securities and held executive positions until 2001.

In May 2001, Turgut Tokgöz took the position of Secretary General at The Association of Capital Market Intermediary Institutions of Turkey. Meanwhile, he served as Board Member at Turkish Derivatives Exchange and The Central Registry Agency.

Since April 2004, he serves as the Secretary General of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Turkey. He is currently a trustee of the Istanbul Modern Art Foundation and a board member of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) Turkish Chapter. Tanyer Sönmezer completed his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at METU, followed by a master's degree at Duplo Business School in London. He specialized in "Change Engineering in Commercial Organizations" throughout his MBA on product management and marketing at Gazi University. Later on, he completed a program titled "Making Corporate Boards More Effective" at Harvard University. He is currently attending a doctorate program on "Organizational Consultancy" jointly held by Ashridge Business School and Middlesex University.

Following his post at the sales department of British automation company Duplo International, Sönmezer became a project coordinator in the project "Long-Term Grain Production Planning in Turkey" at a consultancy company, Agriconsult. Then, he started working for Michelin - a global giant in the tire sector, as a Commercial and Technical Consultant and went on to assume the role of Business Development Manager, taking on the responsibility of the development of a new functional matrix organization. Later, during his post as a Marketing Manager, he brought to life the strategies of multiple brands and multiple distribution channels. He was promoted to become the General Sales Director and ensured, in collaboration with his team, the market leadership of the products under his responsibility.

Sönmezer continued his business career as the General Manager of the international headhunting and human resources management consultancy company Nicholson International. Tanyer Sönmezer is currently a Board Member and the General Manager of MCT. He is also the writer of the published books "Manager's Backpack" and "Manager's Lunch Box", as well as those he is still working on, "The Chickpeas You Didn't Soak the Night Before", "Please Don't Come Alone", and "Riders of the Red River". His main aim was developping connected digital and green hospitals. As of March 2010, Emre helds product manager position in Turkey’s leading GSM operator for design and development of mobile health products for chronic disease management, patient training and education for an economically sustainable healthcare industry. He also work for building up innovative tools for better communication among Healthcare industry partners.

Emre is industrial engineer with MBA and MSc in industrial engineering, with a PhD on Management.

Marcus Minten is the EMEA leader of the Towers Watson Sales Effectiveness and Rewards service line. He is based in Frankfurt, Germany and supports clients across Europe.

His work includes the alignment of sales performance management programs with sales roles and strategy. Marcus works with sales organisations across a variety of industries, such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, chemical, financial services and high-tech.

Marcus has dedicated his professional career to sales performance topics at the interface of HR and Sales. He spent several years in Corporate HR and Sales roles. During his consulting assignments he has had the privilege to support a variety of organisations in Europe and the US, the latter working out of a West Coast based consulting office for three years.

Prior to joining Towers Watson, Marcus was a Regional Sales Effectiveness Manager for a B2B division of a large multinational corporation. Marcus holds a masters degree of Economics and Business Administration with majors in Marketing and Social Psychology.

Marcus’ most relevant recent projects include:

  • The redesign of the EMEA sales incentive plans for a global pharmaceutical client, finding a new and improved balance between ‘local’ and ‘central’
  • The re-design of sales compensation plans for various organisations in the health care industry including services (cancer cell-testing, imaging equipment leasing, health insurance) as well as a global player in biotech research consumables and equipment.

Ümit Ceylan studied the highschool in Galatasaray Lisesi and graduated from M.U.Faculty of Pharmacy.

He started his pharma career in Roche İstanbul as Product Manager, and respectively fulfilled the positions of Marketing and Sales Manager, Vice President in Charge of Pharma Operations.

He, then switched to Toprak İlaç as General Manager, for the full responsibility of the company.

One year later, he was transferred to Bilim İlaç, to occupy the position of General Management for 5 years, then to become the General Coordinator (COO) of the same establishment, Bilfar Holding.

Ümit Ceylan is still a Member of the Board in Bilfar Holding and he owns a company, BioStar dealing mainly with derma products.

He is also the Chairman of the Board in Accademia Training and Consultancy.

Beril Koparal Ayanoğlu was born in 1971 in İstanbul. Beril has graduated from Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Medical Biological Sciences Section and had her masters degree on Medical Biology and Genetics followed with a PhD education on Molecular Medicine in Istanbul University Institute for Experimental Medical Research. She also had a masters degree on Business Administration with a degree on Public Relations. Following her academical educations and trainings, she had gained special interest in soft skills and had a certificate on Image Consulting from Talking Image, UK and a certificate on NLP from NLP School Europe, UK. She was also trained as a Life Coach in Maltepe University. After the academical career, Beril left university and began to work as a managing partner in a local medical communication company and 5 years ago set her own company called BBMEDIKS. At the beginning of February, BBMEDIKS merged with Ogilvy Healthworld and now she is the managing director of Ogilvy Healthworld Turkey. Beril, with her background as a consultant for 17 years and as a medical trainer for about 12 years in Turkish Pharmaceutical industry, now works as an image consultant and performance coach especially for people working in the pharmaceutical industry. Beril’s special interest is adult education. She still continues her education on adult education in University of Victoria Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education Programme.

She has 2 poetry books and a book on baby and child care, with forthcoming books on image consultancy and a guide for parents of children with genetic disorders together with the third poetry book. She is married with 3 daughters.

Dr. Oğuz Mülazımoğlu is currently Business Unit Director for General Medicine and Women's Health at Bayer.

He graduated Çapa Faculty of Medicine at İstanbul University and completed Executive MBA at Bosphorus University followed by Master Programme for Hospital Management at İstanbul University. Right after the school, he decided to pursue his carreer at the pharma industry and joined Knoll as Product Manager in 1992. He launched several products in highly competitive markets and was promoted to the headquarter in Ludwigshafen, Germany as Global Brand Manager responsible for 35 countries in 1996. There, he worked closely with several markets worldwide. After this experience, he returned to Turkey in 2000, became Vice General Manager and started to implement SESAM (Striving for Excellence in Sales and Marketing) project as a part of change management process. In 2002 at Abbott-Knoll integration, he become National Sales Manager. Then, he moved to Schering Plough to establish Cardiovascular Business Unit and worked closely with MSD for co-promotion products. He and his team took "Best Launch Award" for the recognition of the succesful launches. In 2007, he held General Manager position for Central Asia responsible for 6 countries based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He tackled several challenges and grew business. He returned to Turkey and joined Bayer, where he started with several projects. He completed Coaching Programme of Erickson College in İstanbul and become Certified Coach. He established "Coaching Academy" at Bayer, which contributed a lot to create behavioural changes in sales and marketing teams.

His main interest area is history. He likes riding, skiing and sailing. He is married and has two children. He is fluent in German and English.
