| HistoRx is developing novel diagnostic solutions to enable new approaches to individualized patient care. The company accomplishes this through analysis of protein biomarkers in tissue using its proprietary AQUA(R) technology. These reproducible and quantifiable tissue-based immunoassays correlate protein expression with disease outcome.
HistoRx has signed its first diagnostic licensing agreement with Genoptix, the premier U.S. oncology clinical laboratory, for their use in offering several diagnostic assays. These assays are expected to launch in 2010, making AQUA technology available to the general public for the first time.
AQUA software for fluorescent image analysis is now available on Aperio's new ScanScope FL, a multi-slide fluorescence scanning system designed to meet the growing demand for multiplexing with fluorescent biomarkers and quantitative analysis. |

| Translational Medicine—Personalizing Drug Development
By using real-time feedback information, KineMed's innovative approaches can guide, filter, and optimize drug development. A portfolio of drugs can therefore be advanced more effectively and with significantly greater chances of success.
KineMed's goal is to use its translational medicine platform to resolve two major challenges in pharmaceutical R&D: Translation and Personalization.
KineMed provides a deep, real-time view into drug actions in living systems — both animal and human — and bridges the gap between the laboratory and the clinic. It enables translation of scientific discoveries into effective medicines.
This real-time view into living systems also enables KineMed to identify otherwise unappreciated heterogeneity among patients and within diseases and to relate these variations to drug effects. This can help delineate the characteristics of responders and non-responders earlier in clinical development. This ability to discern such differences earlier allows better patient stratification during development and increases the chances of success. By increasing expected signal-to-noise, it also can allow smaller studies to reach significant outcomes. KineMed's Personalized Medicine platform results in testing and using the right drugs in the right patients. |
