Mr
Hatanaka assumed CEO of Yamanouchi Europe in 2003. In this
time, he directed 16 companies engaged in manufacturing, development
and sales in Europe and successfully accomplished launching
3 new drugs in the urologic treatment field.
In 2005-6, after assuming the role of Senior Advisor of Astellas
Pharma Europe, Mr Hatanaka returned to Japan in April, 2006.
Was named Operating Officer of Astellas Pharma Inc.
Hatanaka Pharma Consulting Co, Ltd. was established in July
2006. The primary purpose of the business is to;
1. Contribute to innovation of operation of pharmaceutical
businesses,
2. Support alliances between Japanese pharmaceutical businesses
and U.S. or European pharmaceutical businesses from a global
standpoint.
Mr Hatanaka will take advantage of ample experiences of business
operations in Japan and experiences of management obtained
in the overseas assignments.
Previous career
history:
In
1968, Mr. Hatanaka joined Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
Until 1992, served as a front line MR and Director of Sales
Office, and thereafter moved to the Corporate Marketing &
Sales Department to fulfill responsibilities to develop and
drive hospital strategies and university fostering strategies
as well as CRM for 2 years. Assumed the position of Director
of Hiroshima District Office and then Osaka District Office
for a period of 1994 through 2001.
In 2001, assumed the Director of Board and General Manager
of Pharmaceutical Sales & Marketing responsible for the
sales and marketing organization for Japan. Contributed to
establishing powerful sales force which enabled Yamanouchi
to increase the share of market up to the second place in
the domestic market.
In 2002, assumed the Director of Board responsible for global
sales and marketing for USA, Europe and Asia; project to establish
framework of direct sales in the U.S.; project to promote
global pre-marketing of Vesicare product.
