The must attend Market Access event in Canada for Pharma
The governmental and provincial processes in Canada pose pharma difficult early challenges to gaining entry into this important market. The overriding issue is the need for productive Market Access strategies that align with company needs, for more effective drug approval. November 2009; eyeforpharma hosted the inaugural Canadian Market Access summit. With an extremely senior level speaker line up to discus the main challenges facing this quickly changing environment, the event was set to be an industry changing summit. As expected, every speaker without exception delivered an insightful and thought provoking presentation.
So what did you miss? Initially delegates were given an extermly useful overview of the Canadian pharma market from Rx&D, Takeda and Global Public Affairs. This laid a great foundation for some fantastic presentations from senior level representatives from Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, the Common Drug Review (CDR) and Wyatt Health on provincial approval and relationships. Day 1 was rounded off by the VP of Aon Consulting discussing the importance of private payers in the Canadian market. The Market Access discussion continued on Day 2 with the focus moving to drug plan approval and Government Relationships. Senior speakers from Cancer Care Ontario, BMS and Roche ensured that the success of day 1 continued. The afternoon of day 2 saw the focus move to the challenges around product launch and global access of Market Access. The conference was rounded off by some of the most anticipated presentations for the event. Representatives from the PMPRB, AstraZeneca and Gowlings Legal discussed reimbursement and negotiations. Overall the 2009 Candian Market Access conference was a huge success and we look forward to continuing this success in 2010.
